We are currently recruting for a Scrap Meta Burner for your client, based in Aberdeen.
The Scrap Metal Burner is responsible for the safe and efficient cutting, dismantling, and processing of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal using oxy-propane, oxy-acetylene, or other approved thermal cutting equipment. The role supports the preparation of scrap materials for recycling, transportation, and further processing while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate burning and cutting equipment safely and effectively to process scrap metal materials.
- Cut oversized scrap into manageable sizes according to operational requirements.
- Dismantle large steel structures, machinery, and fabricated components.
- Identify different grades and types of metals to ensure correct segregation and processing.
- Inspect cutting equipment before use and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area at all times.
- Follow all company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safe systems of work.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and movement of materials within the yard when required.
- Support other operational activities as directed by supervisors.
- Participate in safety briefings, toolbox talks, and training programmes.
- Report accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions promptly.
